Holiday Makeup Looks!!!

I know that I believed New Years Eve make up was usually all about the sparkle, shimmer and shine!! Which I think is an appropriate assumption for the ladies NYE outfits and clothing. But I've learned when it comes to make-up, it doesn't have to shimmer as much as it should POP and compliment what you are wearing.

Below I have included 5 excellent make up looks (selected by refinery 29) that they and I both agree would be great for Holiday Makeup!! You will see an image and a How To achieve the look below, so I hope that you, find something that you like and ENJOY!!

*side note* if the products that you see listed are out of your price range visit your local drug store for a more economical equivalent. COVERGirl, Maybelline, L'Oreal, and others will have you covered.

Subtle Bronze Beauty
Difficulty Level: Easy. First, blend gold and bronze cream shadows together for an extra gilded, customized glow. Sweep the shadow across your lid, up toward the brow bone, and even smudge a little along the lower lash line. You want the cheeks to have more subtle gloss, so use a lighter touch when blending along the cheekbones and contour along the side of the face.

The Tools: Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Sheer Shine Mist, $23, available at Fekkai; Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Enrapture, $26, available at Sephora; Nars Lip Gloss in Giza, $24, available at Sephora; Topshop Cream Eyeshadow in Goldmine, $14, available at Topshop. Lip Pop (Word of mouth)

Difficulty Level: Easy to Medium. Once you've tackled the bold lip, all that's left is black mascara. Always use a lip liner, and pat the lipstick onto the lips. Go matte by dusting the lips with powder (either translucent or a similar shade of pink).

The Tools: M.A.C. A Tartan Tale Lipstick in Full Fuchsia, $14.50, available at M.A.C.; Tarte LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Stain in Lively, $24, available at Sephora; Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara, $23.50, available at Estee Lauder; Lipstick Queen Invisible Liner, $18, available at Lipstick Queen. The Smokey Eye
Difficulty Level: Medium. The at-home smoky eye only gets out of hand when you start off too big: remember to layer the shadows in steps, so you end up with sexy instead of shocking.

The Tools: Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Black Star, $28.50, available at Chanel; Napoleon Perdis Luminous Lip Veil in In the Flesh, $20, available at Ulta; Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in Peacock Green 80, $19, available at Sephora. Chanel Spring 2011 image courtesy of Chanel.

Pomegranate Party
Difficulty Level: Medium to Hard. Don't be intimidated by the whole eyes-lips-cheeks intensity. Blend a navy or deeper blue shadow with a gray to give depth and pat on the lipstick for a more stained look. Don't forget to add some gold shimmer to the inner eyes to open everything up.

Tools: Shu Uemura Natural Volume Lashes, $20, available at Shu Uemura; M.A.C. Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Good To Go, $16, available at M.A.C.; Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow in Amazing Grey, $20, available at Estee Lauder; Bare Escentuals High Shine Eyecolor in Patina, $16, available at Sephora; Topshop Eyeshadow in Uniform, $14, available at Topshop. Vena Cava Spring 2011 photo by Mr. Newton.

The Ice Queen
Difficulty: Hard. Definitely experiment and make it your own, but creating shapes and the perfect silver line take patience so make sure you have enough time on your hands. Play up your natural eye shape.

The Tools: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Asphyxia, $17, available at Urban Decay; Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Gunmetal, $17, available at Urban Decay; CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Blackfire, $7.99, available at Ulta; Stila Raspberry Crush Lip & Cheek Stain, $24, available at Stila Cosmetics; Maybelline Volume Express The Falsies Mascara, $6.99, available at Ulta Monique L'Huillier Spring 2011 photo courtesy of Monique L'Huillier.

Ursus Bape Duck Boots!

Good day men and women! I love a good duck boot! They are effective and look nice. Your feet will always be protected while wearing a duck boot due to its solid and sturdy nature.

I saw a really nice pair of Polo ones this weekend which renewed my interest in them.

At this time I'm writing about the Spring 2011 BAPE pair pictured above. Price not yet available. Available color pictured above.

Duck boots can be worn with most relaxed jeans, light cords and pants that come down far enough to touch the body of the boot. Shorter, tight (near the ankle) lengths will make your feet protrude out like an actual duck. That = No Good!

One of the Reasons I Miss LA!!

Yesterday, December 13th in Los Angeles, CA the temperature topped near 70 degrees and today, the low was 49 with a high at 69. I so envy that warmer temperature right now.

I am fully aware that Los Angeles isn't the only warm weather climate in the winter months but it is the one that I relate to personally. I used to live in Los Angeles, a few years back and my first visit there was the day after Christmas, December 2005. Imagine, going from cold, blistery Indianapolis, weather to rolling up La Cienega Blvd, seeing people with their convertible tops down.....ohhhh refreshing :)

Anyway, Reese Witherspoon inspired my LA post today by what she wore yesterday. If I was in LA, I would probably definitely be in a cardigan and skirt too, probably a platform sandal or wedge peep toed boot though and yes, keep the shopping bags, of course. Melrose, here I come!! What do you think of her look?

Fashion and Style Is Not Just About The Physical!

There are two things that I would like to touch on this Sunday morning. The first being, we are almost into winter, but at stores and boutiques around the world, the Spring 2011 product will slowly begin to arrive. The Spring 2011 runway looks have been published since September 2010. And the Fall 2011 apparel will be viewed February 2011 in a couple of months at Mercedez Benz Fashion Week. Point, we are living in the winter season but fashion is not dictated by the current season. Meaning, you can shop and stock for an upcoming season if you see something that you like, it almost makes sense to.

The second thing I would like to stress is that fashion is not just ALL about appearance. Yes, it is one of the first things people notice when they meet you and the quality and care of your garments and shoes is important. But there are also eco friendly fashions that are environmentally sound and there are fashions that promote positive causes in their mottos, campaigns (Keep A Child Alive), insignias and logos. With that being said, fashion is definitely an integral element in promoting good causes and fashion is not solely about "How Do I Look"?

This sandal inspired every thought that I have written above. This Georgina Goodman shoe is SENSATIONAL!! I love the colors in it. I love the message this shoe is sending with the word "LOVE" and how it is crafted into the design. The beige and black wide striped stiletto heel is genius! I can tell that the area under your toes and ball of the foot is very well cushioned (for a comfortable wear) and the ankle strap gives the wearer that much more support to walk in this lovely shoe. I would give this shoe a PERFECT 10!

The price of this item used to be $920 but has been discounted to $386.20.

Do you love this shoe as much as I do?

Ladies and Gents Winterize Your Vehicles!!

Today, I have included a few tips that I think will help you keep your vehicles in good shape throughout the winter. Please read and tke your car maintenance very seriously. See below for details.

  • Check your antifreeze
Your antifreeze (the juice that goes in your radiator) is an essential part of your car's winter protection. Your car contains a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze.

  • **BONUS** Let your car warm up until the temperature gage reaches a normal temperature, before pulling off. This prevents engine damage.
For more information on the article "Winter Auto Maintenance Checklist", follow this link.

Proof I Set Trends, Not Follow Them!!!

On April 8th, 2010 I blogged about a wonderful Balmain trench, that I went cuckoo for cocoa puffs over! Click here to read that article.

On Friday, December 3rd, 2010 I happened to be reading the Necole Bitchie site and realized Monica wore the same trench to the Grammy nomination celebration. See picture below.

Point being, I can style you in celebrity style and fashion without being told or taught how to do it. Give me a personal shopping try, by emailing your request to Nicole M., Notable Styles and More Personal Shopper

    The Simple Things!

I was browsing through the Parasuco website, because I noticed they were a featured brand on the site, Beyond The Rack yesterday and for some reason I couldn't successfully enter the Beyond the Rack sale. So I decided to view the Parasuco site directly to see what has been going on with their line since, this past June.

Below you will see only a top half of a look and I feel obligated to tell you why this look, inspired me. First of all, every single thing in this image is proportional and symmetrical. The way the hair hits the shoulders and even the models lean, tells a story.

The shoulder pads are parallel to the shirt design. The shirt material near the pads are complimenting and accentuating the shoulder pads in a perfect way. No extra material, hanging over the shoulder or out of place in any way.

I love the braided band around the hair look and the fact that it is not the same color of the shirt, just allows my inspiration to grow.

I believe whomever styled this Parasuco look, knew what the Hell they were doing. And for that, I am grateful!

She is totally, giving me hard core, edge, but with soft touched and I have to love the mix of both.  Ciao!!!
